Despite economic challenges globally, international minerals processing specialist Multotec Group remains optimistic about the future of mining in Africa and the company is looking forward to a productive and insightful Investing in African Mining Indaba this year, says Multotec Africa MD Peter Mbada.

“We are expecting to gain strategic insights at macro level for the mining industry and to interact closely with key clients and stakeholders for mutual benefit.”

Multotec’s mineral processing equipment is used to improve mineral recoveries, made possible through its extensive network of branches and offices across Africa.

“By partnering with clients over the life cycle of their plant, we provide ongoing equipment and process refinement to achieve optimum plant efficiency that decreases their production cost per tonne of ore.”

Multotec is pursuing adding value to their clients by offering customised solutions for specific applications.

The company’s equipment and service offerings, found employed on plants across Africa, includes screening, classification, gravity separation, comminution and sampling solutions.

These activities are further supported by a range of wear lining products and services, as well as slurry pumps used across several mining applications.

Multotec believes that Africa has “unlimited potential”, and Mbada is confident that the company will continue its upward growth through increased market share, product offerings, fabrication services, field servicing and maintenance solutions.

“We aim to continue to be the solution providers of choice on the continent,” he says, adding that the company has key industry knowledge, expertise and experience in Africa, across a wide variety of commodities.

Keeping up with Technology

“Innovation is key for survival and sustainability in the mining sector,” says Mbada.

He highlights that, for example, with constrained power supply and availability in many African countries, in addition to the drive for reduced carbon emissions, Multotec’s innovations – such as its pulping chute, which has no moving parts – have effectively replaced scrubbers at some mines, with “impressive results”.

“Multotec’s focus is always to be in close proximity to our customers. By keeping an active presence in all key mining regions, we understand the environment our clients operate in, and collaborate with them to provide customised processing equipment solutions. This is additionally supported by ongoing maintenance service propositions,” Mbada concludes.
