Schauenburg Systems highlights collaboration and innovation at Mining Indaba
Schauenburg Systems South Africa Chief Innovation Officer Mark Stevens talks to Engineering News & Mining Weekly at Investing in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town.
Mine safety OEM Schauenburg Systems South Africa is using its presence at the 2026 Investing in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town to reinforce the importance of collaboration and partnerships in driving safer, more sustainable mining operations across the continent.
Speaking to Mining Weekly at the company’s stand, CIO Mark Stevens said the event provided a valuable platform to strengthen relationships with mining operators, technology providers, potential projects and international partners, while also engaging with peers on emerging industry trends and challenges.
Stevens emphasised that collaboration is critical to unlocking growth and sustainable development in mining, noting that no single organisation can address the sector’s complex challenges alone. Through partnerships, Schauenburg Systems South Africa is helping drive progress by deploying advanced underground collision-prevention and real-time worker-location systems at several local mines, improving incident response times and operational efficiency.
He added that the company’s training programmes further support long-term sustainability by building local skills and empowering communities, positioning Mining Indaba as a key forum for advancing innovation and shared value in African mining.
