Australia names green metals advisory panel

Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia CEO Rebecca Tomkinson

The Australian government has tapped seven industry and labour leaders to serve on a panel that will give strategic advice on opportunities for a sustainable green metals industry.

The Industrial Decarbonisation and Green Metals advisory panel is a commitment under the Future Made in Australia agenda to support investment in green metals and help the industry decarbonise iron, steel, alumina and aluminium.

The panel comprises Mark Cain, who is the CEO of the Australian Steel Institute, Paul Farrow, the national secretary of the Australian Workers Union, Paul Howes, managing partner at KPMG Australia, Marghanita Johnson, the CEO of the Australian Aluminium Council, Steve Murphy, national secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, Jenny Selway, CEO of the Heavy Industry Low-carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre, and Rebecca Tomkinson, CEO of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia.

The panel is a temporary, independent group and is not a decision-making panel and has no governing legislation.
