Adriatic says production unaffected by regional storm

Dual-listed Adriatic Metals said on Wednesday that its operations were not affected by the severe storms and subsequent flooding battering the central and southern regions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The storms that occurred late last week resulted in short-term water management issues at Rupice mine and the Vares processing plant, but the company said these were effectively managed.

However, the railway line that connects Sarajevo to Ploce Port in Croatia has been damaged, with certain sections of the railway line flooded and covered with debris owing to landslides. Due to this damage, Adriatic would truck concentrate product to Ploce Port until the railway track was fully repaired and operating safely.

The company said it believed road logistics would be a temporary solution.

Adriatic and other key exporters were working closely with the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Railway to fast-track and optimise the repair of the damaged line.

Adriatic was also working with the local civil protection authorities and the Red Cross to assist with affected local infrastructure in Vares.
