Bankan gold project in Guinea yields ‘promising’ exploration results
ASX-listed Predictive Discovery has revealed “promising” findings from its regional drilling activities at the Bankan gold project, in Guinea, which has a substantial 5.38-million-ounce gold reserve.
The ongoing regional exploration endeavour is aimed at uncovering further viable gold deposits, with particular focus on the Argo area situated between 15 km and 20 km north of the NEB and BC deposits, which sit only 3 km apart, in the southern section of the licence area.
The latest results stem from 221 boreholes amounting to 9 355 m, with drilling operations continuing on a results-oriented approach.
The initial two diamond drill holes at Fouwagbe have verified the extension of mineralisation discovered in previous drilling campaigns to greater depths. Notable new intercepts include 5.5 m at 4.04 g/t from 169 m, 3 m at 6.83 g/t from 89.5 m, and 3 m at 5.59 g/t from 150 m.
The company said further exploration at Sinkoumba had yielded promising results, with notable intersections such as 8 m at 3.65 g/t from 16 m, 6 m at 1.73 g/t from 12 m, 8 m at 1.14 g/t from 6 m, and 4 m at 2.00 g/t from 38 m. These findings were obtained through aircore drilling along the southwest strike of Fouwagbe.
Additionally, the initial aircore drilling at Sanifolon South, also located on the Argo Central Trend, has delivered strong results including 12 m at 6.29 g/t from 14 m, 2 m at 41.71 g/t from 34 m, 7 m at 3.28 g/t from 66 m, 10 m at 1.09 g/t from 8 m, and 2 m at 4.89 g/t from 24 m.
The company said future drilling programmes would focus on advancing the most promising targets within the Argo area while also progressively investigating new target zones through aircore drilling. The scope of regional exploration will expand to cover the Bokoro and Saman permits, which are situated between the Argo area and the NEB and BC discoveries.
“The latest exploration results from Argo . . . include both follow-up drill holes at promising targets and first-pass results from new areas. The Fouwagbe-Sinkoumba targets continue to show significant potential, with the first diamond drill holes at Fouwagbe returning multiple high-grade intercepts, confirming mineralisation in previous reverse circulation holes extend at depth.
“The next phase of drilling here will focus on testing continuity along strike between the drilling lines completed to date,” Predictive Discovery MD Andrew Pardey said on April 9.
He added that the initial results along strike to the north-east at Sanifolon South included some of the best intercepts so far from Argo, adding to the potential of the Argo Central Trend.
“Our drilling programmes will continue to systematically test the Argo and near-resource targets on a results-driven basis, with the aim of discovering additional resource ounces. We [will also] start expanding early-stage regional exploration into the Bokoro and Saman permits to start testing geophysical targets,” Pardey said.
