ASX-listed uranium project developer Deep Yellow has appointed experienced mining finance executive Craig Barnes to succeed Mark Pitts as CFO, with effect from August 1.

Barnes is a chartered accountant with more than 25 years’ experience in senior finance and financial management roles within the mining industry both in Africa and Australia, including direct exposure to uranium development and production in Namibia.

He holds a BComm degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and an Honours Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from the University of South Africa.

Before joining Deep Yellow, he held the position of CFO of Galena Mining and prior to that was CFO of Paladin Energy for more than five years and CFO of DRDGOLD and its affiliated subsidiaries for more than seven years.

“Craig is a welcomed addition to the already formidable Deep Yellow team and will be a great asset as we move forward with development of the Tumas project. Getting a person in such a senior level that has worked previously with the majority of our senior leadership, combined with his familiarity with uranium and operating in Namibia, will significantly strengthen the financial and commercial aspects of the group," says Deep Yellow CEO John Borshoff.

Deep Yellow owns various projects in Namibia and Australia, with the Tumas project, in Namibia, being its main focus.
