ASX-listed Greenwing Resources has completed 464 auger holes, totalling 4 027 m, at its 100%-owned Andapa graphite project, in Madagascar.

This exploration work has found regolith-hosted (weathered) graphite (saprolite) mineralisation, providing a platform for a comprehensive follow-up conventional drill programme.

The Andapa project is located 60 km from the country’s only deep-water port at Tamatave and on a granted mining lease.

Saprolite mineralisation is prolific in Madagascar.

Continuous graphite mineralisation has been confirmed across two graphitic units over a strike distance of 1.2 km and 2.2 km and with mineralisation directly adjacent to the operating Antsirabe graphite mine.

“These results show the consistent presence of graphite across two mineralised units at shallow depth. Greenwing will continue to progress the project given the existing mining lease, proximity to Graphmada and relatively short haul to port,” executive director Peter Wright says.

“These results are highly encouraging with shallow augering identifying significant graphite mineralisation at unit one and two of the Andapa graphite project, which is adjacent to an operating graphite mine.

“This augering programme has completed the first pass across the whole permit targeting the historically identified graphitic strikes at units one, two and three. The company looks forward to updating the market further in the coming weeks as to its broader portfolio of assets in Madagascar and the implementation of the country’s new Mining Code,” he adds.
