TSX-V-listed E3 Lithium has completed all milestones of the pilot project funded by Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan’s) Critical Minerals Research, Development and Demonstration (CMRDD) programme.

The total support from the CMRDD was a C$3.5-million contribution and E3 has now received the final payment of C$354 000.

The funding supported E3’s field pilot operations and the advancement of using direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology to extract lithium from Leduc brines in Alberta, Canada.

E3 has successfully demonstrated DLE technology at scale, achieving high lithium recovery from brines with high flow rates.

“We are grateful for NRCan’s support as we progress towards commercializing lithium production right here in Alberta,” commented president and CEO Chris Doornbos.

“This investment played an important role in derisking the technology aspect of the project. Through the pilot project, we achieved our key milestones and advanced the commercial viability of our DLE flowsheet,” he stated.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson commented in a statement that the C$3.5-million NRCan investment would help Canada participate directly in the growing market for battery-grade lithium to support domestic battery manufacturing.

Building on its success, E3 is advancing its strategic plan to construct a demonstration facility that will produce battery-grade lithium carbonate. This next advancement will lay the groundwork for a commercial lithium facility, positioning Western Canada as a key player in the global lithium market.
