E92 discovers new uranium/copper zone
Assay results from the 2023 summer exploration programme at the Gemini uranium discovery, in Canada’s Athabasca basin, have confirmed a new parallel mineralised zone, ASX-listed explorer 92 Energy reported on Tuesday.
The new zone contains uranium and high-grade copper mineralisation, about 300 m east of the Gemini mineralised zone (GMZ).
Drilling within the GMZ intersected thick zones of continuous mineralisation, including 17.5 m at 0.38% uranium oxide (U3O8) (3 802 ppm), 1.5 m at 0.15% U3O8 (1 542 ppm) and 2 m at 0.15% U3O8 (1 459 ppm).
“These assays are highly significant as they reveal that the parallel structure holds strong potential for replicating the discovery of the GMZ,” said 92 Energy MD Siobhan Lancaster.
“Results to date highlight the possibility of uncovering other additional mineralised zones along the northern extensions of Gemini and the area around the recently identified radioactive boulder in the southern part of the project.
“The Gemini project covers a vast area, much of which remains virtually unexplored, and there is clearly immense growth potential in several directions, as these results show,” said Lancaster.
The company completed 131 drill holes, totalling 3 659 m, with 1 385 m in four holes located at the GMZ and 2 274 m in nine holes evaluating exploration areas.
