Expo crossover to address all things safety

MARK ANDERSON This year’s Firexpo comes after a successful turnout at the inaugural exhibition, held last year
As more organisations and individuals realise the importance of addressing fire risks, there has been significant growth in the local fire market, making this year’s Firexpo – to be held at the Gallagher Convention Centre from June 6 to 8 – relevant to increasing awareness on fire prevention.
Trade show organiser Specialised Exhibitions portfolio director Mark Anderson tells Engineering News that, while fire detection and management products and services were traditionally included in the Securex Expo, this year’s Firexpo comes after a successful turnout at the inaugural exhibition, held last year.
“While the Firexpo is strategically co-located with Securex South Africa, the A-OSH EXPO and Facilities Management Expo, we felt the time was right to host a dedicated fire solutions exhibition. There is a very clear crossover and synergy among the four sectors, with integration of solutions being commonplace.”
Through an integration of services, Anderson says there is a holistic management of safety and health, facilities management, security, and fire detection and management, adding that the co-location of the events is strategic, and centred on providing visitors with an end-to-end safety and security resource.
“Firexpo will, once again, benefit from its co-location with these symbiotic events, providing visitors with an unrivalled opportunity to source all things associated with safety and security/risk – all under one roof.”
He adds that technology has also allowed for the integration between previously disparate systems, with the Industrial Internet of Things having played a major role in leveraging the advantages of every sector’s solutions to provide a broad scope of benefits.
Moreover, in light of an increasing demand for education and skills development in fire prevention, the event will include live demonstrations by exhibitors, coupled with technical advice provided by exhibitors, consequently enabling visitors to find solutions tailored to their individual needs.
Solutions Exhibitors will respond to questions regarding fire detection and fire management while creating a platform where solutions for brown- and greenfield installations can be addressed.
“We would like to provide the exhibitors with a forum for showcasing their fire detection and management product and service solutions to a wider market.” Aligned with this is the successful acquisition of new clients and making sales.
“For visitors, our goal is to make the decision-making process around selecting regulation-compliant fire detection and management solutions as painless as possible,” Anderson concludes.
