Lithium producer Livent said on Monday a fire at its largest manufacturing plant in Bessemer City, North Carolina has subsided.

The fire had broken out in a building where solid lithium metal ingots are produced, the company had said earlier in the day.

The fire damaged the building but did not spread to other parts of the plant. There were no injuries to personnel or emergency responders and no toxic chemicals or compounds were released, the company added.

Air monitoring tests did not show abnormal readings at the site or areas downwind from the facility.

"We are working hard to mitigate any potential impacts and return to normal operations as soon as possible," the company said.
