Great Divide hits key milestones in path to production at Challenger

ASX-listed Great Divide Mining (GDM) is making strides in its efforts to bring the Challenger gold mine in Adelong, New South Wales, into production.

The company has successfully completed Stage 1 of the farm-in agreement with ADG and assumed operational control of the mine, marking a step forward in its transition from explorer to producer.

“GDM has spent the last 4 months completing due diligence work and finalising definitive agreements, time which has been used to deliver a double bottom line. We didn’t just assess plant and equipment during the due diligence phase, we maintained and restarted it during this same period. As a result, the site is now in a fully maintained and operable state, pending a few modifications to the process flow sheet and some minor additional equipment,” said GDM CEO Justin Haines.

The Challenger gold mine represents a fast-tracked opportunity for GDM to start generating revenue. With existing leases, development approvals, and a processing plant ready for restart and optimisation, the company is well-positioned to advance operations. During the due diligence period, which concluded in January, GDM’s onsite team worked to maintain and restart key equipment, ensuring the site’s readiness for production.

The Challenger has historically produced more than 800 000 oz of gold, with mill feed averaging over 150 g/t. GDM plans to leverage its operational infrastructure to begin near-term gold production, once the remaining metallurgical issues are addressed.

The company plans to begin reconfiguring the plant for process trials, which will determine the most commercially viable production route.
