Project Description
The project entails the expansion of the existing Grootegeluk 2 plant to allow for the production of 1.7-million to 2.7-million tonnes a year of semisoft coking coal.

Potential Job Creation
Up to 2 000 contract positions at peak construction will be created. About 100 permanent positions will be created once the plant is in operation.

Capital Expenditure
Capital expenditure has increased from R4.8-billion reported in the financial year to December 31, 2020, to R5.3-billion in the six months ended June 30, 2020.

Planned Start /End Date
First production is expected in the second half of 2020 and full production in 2021.
