The project entails the development of the 1 200 MW Lai Chau hydropower project on the Da river, Lai Chau province.

The plant will be the third largest in Vietnam, generating more than 4.7-billion kilowatt hours every year to the national grid.

Latest Developments
Alstom and its joint venture partner, Hydro-china Zhongnan Engineering Corporation, have signed a contract worth over €90-million with EVN to provide electromechanical equipment for the project.

The scope of the contract includes the delivery, supervision of erection, testing and commissioning of three Francis 400 MW turbine and generator sets, as well as mechanical and electrical auxiliaries.
