Manitou launches new telescopic handler
NEW BUGGY The MT420H is Manitou’s most compact telehandler in its MT range and is capable of negotiating confined, uneven and difficult-to-access spaces
Secrecy and mystery surround Manitou’s latest mining machine, which the global handling and lifting equipment manufacturer will be launching at this year’s Electra Mining Africa.
Developed by Manitou Southern Africa (MSA), the new telescopic handler is designed for underground mining applications and the concept is a “world first”, MSA MD Lindsay Shankland told Mining Weekly ahead of the launch.
More information will be revealed at Electra Mining Africa, where the machine will be exhibited at the MSA stand in the outside area.
The exhibition of the new telescopic handler will be complemented by recent machine and attachment innovations. Each has been tailored to reduce customer costs, achieved through increased machine versatility, resulting in faster operations, improved uptime and increased safety.
Some of the company’s recent innovations include the Zone 1 flameproof diesel conventional forklift, the new generation Manitou roofbolter – an automated drill and bolt rig able to perform in confined spaces, the AL750 articulated loader and the MT420H, which is Manitou’s smallest telescopic handler.
MSA is a subsidiary of the global Manitou group, which is a leading supplier of rough terrain telescopic handlers and forklifts, warehousing equipment, conventional forklifts, skid steer loaders, track loaders, articulated loaders, piggyback forklifts, scissor lifts and articulated access platforms, offering a wide range of construction, agriculture, mining, forestry, warehousing and industrial equipment.
Manitou’s standard machines are manufactured at its factories in France, Italy, the US and India.
MSA was officially established in 1997, although the Manitou brand has had a presence in South Africa for well over 40 years.
