JSE-, ASX- and Aim-listed coal miner MC Mining has appointed Dr Steele West as a nonexecutive director to the board, effective September 9.

He succeeds Douglas Abrahams, who is stepping down from the position.

MC Mining chairperson Mathews Senosi says West brings a wealth of executive leadership experience, having worked on transaction and project delivery across the energy, civil infrastructure and natural resource sectors for more than 17 years.

West is currently a senior business development manager at Atco Australia, which has engineering, logistics and energy holdings. He previously served as project development manager with Zenith Energy in Perth.

Senosi says West will bring valuable experience as MC Mining advances its flagship Makhado coal project into production and accelerates the group’s broader strategy of developing various tenements in the Vhembe region of Limpopo.
