MCS acquires minority interest in Underground Support Solutions
Diversified international investment firm BG Global has taken a bold step in expanding its footprint within the underground mining sector by securing a minority stake through its wholly-owned mining technology subsidiary Mining Consultancy Services (MCS) in specialised mining services provider Underground Support Solutions (USS) for an undisclosed amount. This strategic investment aligns with BG Global and MCS’s vision of partnering with industry leaders to drive innovation, efficiency and long-term sustainability in underground coal mining.
USS has established itself as a premier provider of specialised underground support expertise for the underground mining sector. With years of experience and a deep-rooted commitment to safety and operation’s al excellence, USS plays a critical role in supporting South Africa’s mining industry. USS offers a comprehensive suite of underground mining solutions, including:
- Ground support and stabilisation: Cutting-edge roof and tunnel support systems designed to enhance mine safety and longevity.
- Conveyor belt maintenance (including construction and reclaiming)
- Secondary roof support (including pillar wrapping),
- Air support with gophers,
- Mechanical support with hydraulic/electric roof-bolters,
- Wire mesh installation on hanging roof and rib sides, and
- Highwall, side-wall and pillar wrapping.
