Mining industry needs innovation

The world is built on mining, from the chips in phones to the bricks that make up homes, and for every piece of equipment that contributes to the success of this sector, from draglines to conveyers, one factor runs true: everything needs to be cleaned.

Equipment operates at its best when it is well-maintained and looked after. This extends into ensuring that machinery is clean and free of excess dirt.

This is why Cleaning Equipment Manufacturing South Africa (CEMSA) has been at the forefront of innovation in the high-pressure cleaning industry for over 35 years, the company points out.

Mines are rigorous in terms of their health, safety and compliance factors and CEMSA’s new range of autonomous petrol and diesel high-pressure cleaners are designed strictly with these applications in mind.

“With factors such as the ground they manoeuvre over, the environment in which they operate and the toughness of the cleaning all being considered – these high-pressure cleaning machines are a testimony to human-centric design,” CEMSA highlights.

While South African businesses have traditionally imported high-pressure washers and industrial cleaning equipment, CEMSA has met the demand for high-quality, local equipment, and is manufacturing their meticulously tested, extensive range in Pretoria.

Further, CEMSA believes that industrial cleaning equipment should be suited to each individual customer’s application, particularly those with a mining or industrial application, noting that both local and international manufacturers tend to have an “umbrella” approach to equipment design and production.

CEMSA offers an extensive network of dealers and an extensive after-sales service network, which stretches into Africa, tying in with the company’s approach to finding cost-effective solutions that solve the needs of their customers.

The company boasts in-house manufacturing, assembly, electrical design and machine building, alongside a dynamic and driven research and development department, and has a near endless range of solutions for industrial cleaning applications, whether it is hot or cold water, petrol or diesel, portable or fixed.

At Electra Mining Africa 2024, CEMSA unveiled range of “PWP” and “PWD” high-pressure washers – the perfect petrol and diesel high-pressure cleaners for mining application.

Alongside the launch of their upgraded range, CEMSA chief technical officer John Rudman delivered an informative presentation on the prevalence of continuous innovation and industry-first design for the mining industry.

“The importance of cleaning has never been more apparent as it is these days, even in industrial applications. This need has driven companies to continuously innovate, finding new ways to improve reliability and ease of service on equipment,” he says.
