The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is pleased to announce its upcoming 2024 Research Colloquium, convened under the theme “Mining Future Skills”. The event is scheduled to be hosted on Thursday, 26 September 2024, at MINTEK in Randburg, Johannesburg.

The event will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative discussions, on the relevant and updated issues shaping the future of the mining workforce. It will showcase the MQA’s commitment to applied research that yield empirical based evidence to inform sectoral skills development and guide conceptualisation and implementation of relevant skills interventions in the Mining and Minerals sector (MMS).

The event will be an engaging and insightful gathering of esteemed researchers, scholars and professionals from the MMS, who will engage in stimulating discussions and exchange ideas on thought leadership in skills development. This prestigious event will feature keynote addresses, paper presentations, focus group discussions and interactive sessions, offering a unique platform for intellectual dialogue and academic networking.

The Colloquium will cover a range of research areas, including but not limited to the key trends and challenges impacting the mining workforce and other cross-cutting, sector-specific issues. The objective of the colloquium is to share the research findings emanating from studies conducted by the MQA in collaboration with its Research Partners. Renowned experts in their respective fields will share and discuss findings that will shed light on emerging trends and innovative methodologies in skills development in the MMS.
