Volkswagen announced last week that it planned to build 22-million battery-powered vehicles over the next ten years, compared with an earlier goal of 15-million. The world’s largest automaker also aims to launch almost 70 new electric models by 2020 as part of a drive to put the company at the forefront of the industry’s shift to zero-emissions driving. Speaking during the automaker’s yearly news conference in Wolfsburg, Germany, CEO Herbert Diess said: “We are aligning Volkswagen with emobility like no other company in our industry.”
