Rio-Carb’s Revolutionary ‘Rapid Removal’ System for Liner Plates
This article has been supplied.
Rio-Carb, South Africa’s foremost authority in liner plate solutions, has decisively transformed the costly and time-consuming process of liner replacement with its groundbreaking Rapid Removal (RR) system.
Jabulile Mlambo from Rio-Carb asserts that the Design-Registered RR system is equipped with a specialized M16 countersunk nibbed bolt and a highly efficient removal tool, completely eliminating the need for grinding or cutting during liner replacement.
“The system enables liner removal to be executed entirely from outside the chute," declares Mlambo. “This innovation not only accelerates turnaround times but also significantly reduces labor costs and greatly enhances safety by removing the requirement for operators to work inside the chute.”
The RR bolt, which boasts a Chromium Carbide (CrC) hard-facing and galvanised finish, features a 5 mm slot designed to prevent it from turning while the nut is unthreading. Additionally, Rio-Carb has introduced a state-of-the-art laser-cut countersunk hole cutting system that ensures a flush CrC surface, minimizing flow disturbance and maximizing durability.
This Rapid Removal system works in perfect synergy with Rio-Carb’s industry-leading CrC liner plates, produced using the company’s exclusive MaxCS Technology. This advanced method welds CrC onto a mild steel backing plate, achieving an impressive hardness of 58 RC while preserving flexibility for shaping. Laboratory tests confirm that Rio-Carb’s CrC plates deliver up to 10 times the wear resistance of conventional 400 and 500 BHN steels, which lose hardness when subjected to temperatures above 250°C.
“This innovation solidifies Rio-Carb’s unwavering commitment to technological advancement. The Rapid Removal system cements our status as the undisputed market leader in liner plate solutions for mining and heavy materials handling.”
