Star Minerals gets final nod for Tumblegum South gold project
ASX-listed Star Minerals has received the final regulatory approval required to begin mining at its Tumblegum South gold project in Western Australia, clearing the way for operations to proceed once operational decisions are made by its mining partner.
The company reported on Monday that the Western Australian Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration had granted the Native Vegetation Clearing permit for the project, representing the last approval needed before mining activities can begin.
Star Minerals MD Ashley Jones said the approval meant all key regulatory requirements were now in place.
“With a milling solution in place with Catalyst Metals and our right-to-mine agreement established with MEGA Resources, all the pieces of the puzzle are in place to enable us to take advantage of ongoing strong gold prices and deliver value for our shareholders.”
Preparations for mining have already begun, with grade control drilling completed and MEGA Resources preparing to mobilise for site preparation works.
Star Minerals has also appointed mining engineer Chris Lee as mine superintendent to represent the company during development and operations.
Ore from the project will be processed under a toll treatment agreement with Catalyst Metals at its Plutonic gold mill.
