PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Strandline Resources has shipped its first heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) from its Coburn mineral sands project, in Western Australia.

The company loaded some 6 500 t of HMC at the Port of Geraldton, worth an estimated A$6.5-million, with sales proceeds expected later this week.

“Achieving production and cashflow is a major milestone for Strandline and sets us up for our next chapter of strong growth. We are now preparing for a second shipment while also completing construction and commissioning of the mineral separation plant which will in turn drive further increases in cashflow,” said Strandline MD Luke Graham.

With construction nearing completion and operations ramping up, Strandline’s focus remains on increasing production throughput of the wet concentrator plant towards design rates, improving plant availability and optimising product recoveries. While ramp up of the wet concentrator plant continues, construction and commissioning teams remain focused on finalising the downstream mineral separation plant and remaining support infrastructure.

Coburn has an ore reserves of 523-million tonnes and an initial mine life of 22.5 years at a planned average mining rate of 23.4-million tonnes a year, with the potential to extend its mine life to more than 37 years.
