Strata Worldwide Celebrates 30 Years in Business

Strata Worldwide celebrates 30 years in business and would like to thank its loyal customers and suppliers for years of support. In partnering with them, Strata has become a trusted resource in the latest mine safety technologies and has successfully reached many important milestones within the industry. Join Strata in celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Originally founded in the US in 1992, Strata Worldwide expanded its footprint globally over the years. The company opened its South African operations in 2011 and brought a local team of resources and technical support directly to its South African HazardAVERT® PDS and CAS customer base.

HazardAVERT electromagnetic proximity detection system has been operating in underground South African coal mines since 2007 when it was the first system to be installed. The technology has always enabled automatic intervention control for avoiding collisions and was the first CAS system to be Level 9 approved in South Africa for underground coal.

HazardAVERT is used in all types of underground and surface mining today and is original equipment manufacturer-agnostic. It is being interfaced with many different brands of machines using the ISO 21815-2 protocol.

Over the years, Strata South Africa - a Level 3 broad-based black economic empowerment organisation - has expanded its product offerings to include options in underground high-speed data networks for communication, environmental monitoring and Internet of Things processes, and its line of emergency refuge chambers. Manufactured locally in Boksburg, these chambers are readily available to all mining countries around the continent.

The global safety company looks back on accomplishments and looks forward to providing continued support for their industries around the globe.

Since 1992, the company has spent decades developing and supplying products and technologies that are designed and built for the rugged, highly mobile working environments found in mining, tunneling, and maritime ports.

From the global headquarters in Georgia, US, to offices and manufacturing facilities throughout North America, South Africa, Europe and Australia, Strata has built upon a product portfolio that includes the best in proximity detection and collision avoidance technologies, a choice selection of underground communication and data networks, emergency refuge solutions and a range of ground control and roof support products. After three decades of success in mining, the company has brought its leading-edge technologies to underground tunneling operations as well as above-ground environments such as marine port facilities.

“As we celebrate this milestone, it’s important to acknowledge that we have achieved this success through the hard work, passion, and dedication of our team members,” says Strata Worldwide CEO Mike Berube.

“We employ the best in the industry around the world, and we’re proud of the important work they’re doing in the development and implementation of life-saving technologies.”

“Strata is a world leader in response and prevention in hazardous working conditions, above and below ground. Our innovation, technology, and people have all focused on what matters most, a safe and productive working environment.”

Berube continues to say that Strata is also committed to supporting the collective efforts of underground companies and organisations, to promote the industries and their achievements and attract new and diverse talent.

This year, Strata has launched a new sponsor relationship with OutRide, an organisation that works with schools across the US to create cycling programmes for children. OutRide’s mission is to harness the benefits of cycling for the cognitive, socio-emotional, and physical well-being of youth and cultivate inclusive cycling communities.

Strata will be supporting multiple programmes within OutRide including research, school programmes and individual athletes. In 2023, they will be sponsoring an amazing young man named Jack, who lost his leg to cancer as a young boy but never gave up riding. He is looking forward to his first full season as an athlete with OutRide, competing in NICA, cross-country mountain biking, and gravel bike racing.

To commemorate this milestone, Strata invites you to visit a new website built in dedication to its 30-year anniversary celebration. https://30years.strataworldwide.com
