Sustainable water management is a design imperative – tech supplier

CERAMIC ULTRAFILTRATION MODULE Water treatment solutions empower engineers, municipalities and industries to recirculate, reuse and recycle water
Water treatment technologies supplier Aqua Resources is committed to providing the technologies that drive sustainable change against South Africa’s shifting water landscape. With ageing infrastructure, growing industrial demands and diminishing freshwater reserves, the role of advanced water treatment has moved from optional to essential.
But in today’s climate, water technology is only part of the solution.
“The water crisis won’t be solved by one tool or technology. It will be solved by a shift in mindset, one that values water as a critical asset, not just a line item,” says Aqua Resources’ technical director Susan Baker.
This mindset is increasingly evident in how customers are approaching projects. Environmental responsibility is no longer a future consideration, it is a current requirement. From energy consumption and membrane efficiency to the longevity and recyclability of materials, every component in a treatment system is being re-evaluated for its environmental footprint.
Since 2013, Aqua Resources has distributed best-in-class solutions across sub-Saharan Africa, empowering engineers, municipalities and industries to recirculate, reuse and recycle water more effectively.
As a key distributor for global leaders including DuPont Water Solutions, CERAFILTEC, Everblue, Phoenix Vessel Technology and DefraWater, Aqua Resources’ portfolio spans reverse osmosis (RO), ultrafiltration, ceramic filtration, prefiltration and desalination.
“The technologies Aqua Resources represents are built with that in mind,” notes Baker. CERAFILTEC’s ceramic ultrafiltration modules, for example, offer high durability and chemical resistance, leading to longer lifespans and fewer replacements.
“DuPont’s RO membranes are engineered for high recovery and reduced energy demand, lowering operational costs and environmental impact in tandem,” she explains.
This systems-thinking approach mirrors the water treatment cycle itself. Source, treat, deliver, return – each phase must operate efficiently and responsibly.
Meanwhile, industry events such as IFAT Africa 2025, which takes place from July 8 to July 10, enables Aqua Resources to champion the vision that sustainable water management is not just a technical challenge, but a design imperative.
“With a growing emphasis on circular water use and a regional context defined by droughts and demand, the role of advanced treatment technologies has never been more important or more promising,” says Baker.
She invites visitors to visit Aqua Resources at IFAT Africa to see how the company is helping shape the future of water.
