Project Description
The facility is expected to produce about 31 500 t/y of synthetic graphite, which can support the production of lithium-ion batteries for about 350 000 electric-vehicle batteries a year.

Depending on customer demand, and additional funding, the facility will be expanded to produce 75 000 t/y of synthetic graphite.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create 450 full-time operational jobs and 500 construction jobs.

Capital Expenditure
NOVONIX announced a conditional commitment through the US Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office for a direct loan of up to $754.8-million in December 2024 to be applied towards partially financing the synthetic graphite facility.

The proposed loan comprises two primary tranches that will have terms of 15 and 10 years respectively, from the date of the first payment of each.

The first tranche will be used to support the site and infrastructure for the new facility and 21 000 t/y of production. The second tranche will support an additional 10 500 t/y of production.

Planned Start/End Date
The facility is expected to reach full production capacity by the end of 2028.
