Mining machines are destroyed by fire at an illegal tin mine in the Amazon rainforest. This operation was conducted by the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources to prevent water pollution and deforestation at the national park near Novo Progresso, south-east of Para state. Brazil is said to be home to 453 illegal Amazon mines.
