Where peristaltic and IoT technology converge

Emerging technology in pump solutions can contribute significantly to enhancing returns in industrial processing and fluid management applications, including for mining, and wastewater management for example. Peristaltic pumps offer several advantages, as the technology is highly reliable and ideal for pumping “difficult to pump” liquids. Adding IoT enabled Remote Assistant (RA) monitoring to the system further reduces indirect costs through minimal and tool-free maintenance and servicing requirements.

The Verderflex Ds500 is an industrial peristaltic pump designed for metering, dosing and transfer (fluid/chemical) with a focus on accuracy and minimum downtime at back pressures of up to 7 bar. It has been designed specifically to challenge traditional technological solutions in municipal and industrial pumping applications.

Our peristaltic pump technology offers distinct advantages because the volume of liquid and the speed at which it is moved through the system is so accurately controlled. The unit - by nature of being a peristaltic pump - can handle solids, abrasives and crystals and is not affected by ‘off gassing’ (i.e., such as sodium hypochlorite in the potable water industry). This makes for a reliable working life, without the need for additional valves or complicated pipework.

Specific emphasis is placed on accuracy. The state-of-the-art microprocessor-controlled motor is considered to be the “heart” of the unit, which makes it possible to deliver extremely accurate doses with high, controlled turn-down ratios.

In addition to the benefits of properly used peristaltic pump technology, the Ds500 is quick and easy to service, because of its one-click, tool-free cartridge change. With IoT enabled Remote Assistant (RA) monitoring and touch screen control, it is extremely easy to set up and use, reducing indirect costs through minimal and tool-free maintenance and servicing requirements. The RA supports monitoring but does not control the pump. This not only ensures accuracy in your process, but allows you to record performance, plan maintenance, and receive alerts on problems that prevent downtime. IoT enabled RA provides operators access to on-hand support and online aftermarket parts and services. It also offers operator assistance via RA alarms covering all critical functions, such as tube failure, before it occurs, allowing efficient maintenance planning. Further, to our drive to promote product interaction and ease of use, the Ds500 comes standard with a high definition, full colour, 4,3” TFT touchscreen

As Government, industries and society increasingly recognise the importance of and advocate for the sustainable management of resources we applaud the existing efforts by industry, to operate ever more efficiently. Solutions that can promise a reduction in water, space and power use, chemical waste, leakage, and pollution, as well as risk – while reducing capital investment and thereby increasing overall project return-on-investment – should be considered as the next step in taking these efforts even further. These types of solutions are worth investing in, don’t you think?
