Copper miner AIC Mines has suspended operations at its Eloise mine, in north-west Queensland, following a “high potential incident” over the weekend.

The incident involved an underground loader straying off course while preparing a stope area for backfilling, resulting in a loss of control and becoming stuck.

No injuries were sustained and the loader was brought to safety in an emergency procedure, AIC reported on Monday.

Mining and processing operations were suspended during the emergency response and resumed after inspections and consultation with the consultation with Resources Safety and Health Queensland.

AIC said the cause of the incident was unknown and that a probe was under way.
