Mining development company Amaroq’s Nalunaq gold mine, in southern Greenland, is now operational at significant capacity, with plant commissioning largely complete and production running in line with the company’s guidance.

The company reported that, as of October 7, gold output had reached about 5 000 oz, reflecting progress toward its revised full-year 2025 production target.

The processing plant implemented a double shift schedule in the latter half of the third quarter, ahead of the planned timeline.

A scheduled four-week shutdown for commissioning activities is expected to begin in the third week of October. This shutdown will finalise the automation of the gravity circuit and complete the majority of Phase 1 civil works.

Phase 2 construction, which encompasses installation of the flotation circuit along with civil, piping and electrical work, is set to resume in December and continue through to the end of the first quarter of next year.

The company said it remains on track to reach its target plant throughput of 300 t a day by year-end.

Amaroq added that an updated 2025 production guidance would be provided once the shutdown schedule is confirmed, coinciding with the release of its third-quarter results on November 14.

Amaroq has also completed its 2025 exploration programme, identifying areas with potential resource growth.

Surface drilling at the South Deep Zone, about 250 m down-dip from the current resource, has concluded. Underground drilling between the 725 and 790 levels has been completed, with definition drilling planned from the 800 level upwards. Both surface and underground programmes have targeted the high-grade main vein and the parallel 75 vein.

At the Nanoq project, a 4 804 m drilling programme was completed on schedule. Core samples are currently being logged and assayed, with initial results expected during the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the winterisation of the camp and equipment is under way, allowing an earlier start to next year’s drilling programme. In addition, satellite gold exploration around Nalunaq, as well as copper and critical metals programmes, has been completed, with assay results pending.

Strategic site visits to the Black Angel and Kangerluarsuk projects have also been carried out to assess logistics and development pathways.

“I am pleased with the progress the team and our commissioning crews and contractors have delivered to date. We are ahead of schedule across all key workstreams,” Amaroq CEO Eldur Olafsson said.
