Andrada sustainable report shows measurable progress

The company boasted a 98% Namibian workforce, and also had 36% female employee representation at operational management level
Aim-listed Andrada Mining, a critical raw materials producer with mining and exploration assets in Namibia, has published its Sustainability Report for the financial year ended February 29.
The company highlights that the report details notable achievements in health and safety, socioeconomic contributions to Namibia and the formalisation of robust environmental, social and governance (ESG) frameworks aligned with global best practice.
Key highlights from the report include in environmental stewardship and an improvement in energy efficiency of 8% year-on-year, said to demonstrate operational optimisation and climate action.
There was also a 64% year-on-year waste reduction to 57 t from 158 t, posited to reflect the effectiveness of strengthened controls aimed at reducing hazardous material generation.
Moreover, the company developed the Andrada Nature Roadmap, guiding biodiversity and nature-positive initiatives.
In health and safety, Andrada achieved a lost-time injury frequency rate of zero, compared to 3.02 the previous year, and maintained a zero fatality injury frequency rate.
It also achieved a 25% reduction in total recordable injury frequency rate to 5.07, indicated to reflect a culture of safety and care.
In social investment, the company boasted a 98% Namibian workforce, noted to showcase its commitment to local employment and skills development.
It also had a 36% female employee representation at operational management level.
In-country economic contribution increased by 49% year-on-year to £31.4-million from £21-million.
In governance, the company improved its alignment with international standards, including progress towards the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management and the ICMM Mining Principles.
Andrada’s internal ICMM Performance Principles Assessment score improved from 41% to 54%.
Its International Finance Corporation-aligned grievance mechanism is fully operational, aimed at ensuring transparent stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution.
The report is prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Universal Standards 2021, including the early adoption of GRI 14: Mining Sector 2024 standard. It is also aligned with the SASB Metals and Mining Standard, Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, and Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures frameworks.
“I am immensely proud to present our full year 2025 Sustainability Report, which demonstrates that responsible mining and operational excellence are not competing priorities but are complementary imperatives,” CEO Anthony Viljoen comments.
“This year’s achievements, particularly our zero lost-time injury performance and substantial expansion of local procurement, validate the strategic investments we have made in our people, processes, and partnerships. We have also laid critical foundations for the future, progressing our Nature Roadmap, moving from climate scenario analysis to strategy, and advancing our alignment with the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management,” he highlights.
“We recognise that our licence to operate depends not only on what we produce, but how it is produced. That is why we continue to deepen our engagement with host communities, strengthen our environmental management systems, and maintain the highest standards of governance and transparency.
“As we expand our portfolio and advance projects such as Brandberg West and Lithium Ridge, the sustainability standards we have established at Uis will serve as the blueprint for all future operations. We are committed to continuous improvement, transparency with all stakeholders, and ensuring that Andrada remains a leader in responsible critical minerals production,” Viljoen avers.
