Diversified miner Anglo American has appointed Tom McCulley technical director, effective immediately.

He succeeds Matt Daley, who opted to take up a senior executive role at fellow diversified miner South32.

McCulley brings a wealth of experience across the mining industry to the executive leadership team. He will be tasked to lead the group’s global technical disciplines from discovery through to processing, as well as safety, health and environment work.

“McCulley’s outstanding technical and leadership capabilities position him well to support our operations in sustaining their much-improved performance and identifying opportunities for further value enhancement,” Anglo American CE Duncan Wanblad states.

He adds that Daley, in his eight years at the group, made a significant contribution to the group’s operational excellence, which he will continue to do alongside McCulley in a handover process until later in the year.

Notably, McCulley will retain his responsibility as CEO of Anglo American’s Crop Nutrients business.
