After a record-breaking Day One of the International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC) in Sydney, today the focus shifts to decarbonisation, critical minerals demand, the energy transition, AI and the transformative power of AI and tech to improve efficiency, productivity, safety and sustainability.

Highlights include:

BHP: Decarbonising our Operations Globally: Sebastian Greco, Vice President Procurement for Global Mining and Services will hold a keynote presentation about the changing nature of the BHP’s operations in the Newmont Plenary Theatre at 10:10AM.

Unlocking the Power of Technology and Innovation: Transforming Mining for a Net Zero Future: Mining leaders from Sandvik, Fortescue, and ABB will tackle tech and sustainability in a keynote panel in the Plenary Theatre at 11:15AM.

Attracting and Retaining the Future Workforce: A two-hour exploration between 11:00AM and 1:00PM of the next generation of mining with speakers from IGO, Austmine, Newmont, AusIMM, UTS and the University of Sydney, plus a special Talk It Forward Dialogue Table with a fascinating cross-section of experienced leaders in mining and recent graduates just entering the field.

NextGen program kick-off: Students from years 9 to 11 will arrive at IMARC on Wednesday to begin an educational experience. Don’t miss meeting them at the Newmont Gamification zone where they, and any keen big kids, can have some fun when mining meets Minecraft, proving that IMARC is not all work.
