Bayobab, TMCEL partner to boost Mozambique connectivity
Next-generation digital infrastructure company MTN Digital Infrastructure, commercially trading as Bayobab, has been selected by Mozambique’s national telecommunications operator TMCEL as the preferred provider to support and manage its international communication services, providing end-to-end management.
The collaboration, a significant milestone for Bayobab’s partnership strategy, will enable seamless cross-border connectivity.
Under the agreement, TMCEL will leverage Bayobab’s global communication platforms, including international voice, international roaming and IPX, to deliver advanced, scalable and high-quality services for their consumers and enterprises.
“By extending our global platforms to support TMCEL in Mozambique, we are helping improve the everyday connectivity experience while enabling innovation, growth and digital inclusion for millions,” says MTN Group Digital Infrastructure CEO Mazen Mroué, noting that the company extends its scale and capabilities to empower African operators.
The partnership marks a transformative step for the country’s connectivity landscape, adds TMCEL chairperson Mahomed Mussá.
By leveraging Bayobab’s global platforms and expertise, TMCEL is strengthening its ability to deliver world-class voice and roaming services to customers.
“Together, we are positioning the nation as a key hub for innovation and growth in the region.”
This strategic alliance marks a pivotal step in public-private partnerships and reinforces a shared vision to accelerate digital transformation.
“By combining TMCEL’s local strength with Bayobab’s global capabilities, we are creating a foundation for resilient connectivity and inclusive growth across Mozambique and beyond,” Mussá concludes.
