BEKA Schréder is the leading outdoor luminaire and GRP pole manufacturer in Africa, with over 35 years of experience. We provide a full scope of lighting solutions for the African and International markets.
Our product range caters for all the market segments and we offer complete solutions that include Telemanagement, Stadium Control, Motion sensing and Solar Solutions, to mention a few.
We have embraced the latest LED technology and we are committed to drive the use of LED technology, improving performance and reducing energy consumption.

What are its applications?
Our products are used to provide complete lighting solutions for various market segments. We offer luminaires for Industrial Lighting, Road & Urban lighting, Decorative outdoor lighting, Sports Lighting, Mast Lighting, Decorative Indoor Lighting and complete sustainable Solar Solutions.  We also offer a range of special explosion and classified luminaires for the industrial market.

What makes the product unique?
Our products are designed for the harsh African conditions and ambient temperatures and bears all the relevant SANS and International performance and safety marks. Our aim has always been to provide cost effective solutions, using high performance products and reducing energy costs. The use of our products provides a customer with a dramatically reduced cost of ownership. This is only possible with optimised performance, resulting in increased spacing of luminaires, a decrease in energy usage and a very low maintenance factor due to high IP ratings and thermal control.

Where was the product developed?
We have our own in house internationally accredited R&D centre, with several Electronic, Mechanical, Design and project engineers. Our products are locally designed and developed, taking all factors and ambient temperatures of up to 50 degrees into consideration. We optimize performance and light distribution in our laboratory, ensuring optimum performance of our products.

Has the product been imported or manufactured locally?
Our products are manufactured locally in our ISO 9001 accredited factory. With the new LED technology, we have to unfortunately import some of the electronic components, as they are not available locally. We do however manufacture our castings, PCB’s and other components locally and assemble in our factory.    

On which projects, if any, has the product been used successfully?
I have mentioned before that we are active in various segments of the market. We have successfully introduced LED technology to most of our market. This includes major Mining houses, Processing plants, Power stations, municipalities, government departments and the private sector. We have really found that the market and the valued customers embrace the “Cost of ownership” concept, once they realize all the advantages.

Is the product exportable?
Definitely. We export our products to the rest of Africa, Europe, the Gulf, the America’s, Australia and New Zealand.
