Belararox to drill four priority copper targets at its Kalahari Copper Project by Aug
ASX-listed Belararox has identified four highly prospective targets within PL0085, a key part of the company’s Kalahari copper project (KCP), in Botswana, which are to be drill tested in August.
The targets were generated through the interpretation of ground-based gravity and aeromagnetic survey results, which indicated that these targets are located along strike of known copper mineralisation.
The identified targets in exploration licence PL0085 lie along strike from prospects and geochemical anomalies associated with Cobre’s Kitlanya West and Ngami copper projects.
One of these high-priority targets, referred to as Target 3, is located along a tested strike that returned a notable copper and silver drilling intercept measuring 20.05 m at 0.85% copper and 20 g/t gold, as reported in drill hole NCP55 by Cobre.
The remaining targets are positioned along strike of additional prospects currently under consideration for drill testing by BHP. These activities follow BHP’s agreement with Cobre over the Kitlanya West project.
Belararox plans to drill six reverse circulation (RC) holes to test the selected targets. The planned drilling will focus on areas situated along strike of proven mineralisation and established geochemical anomalies in neighbouring exploration projects, including Kitlanya West and Ngami.
Drill targeting activities are concurrently advancing in other prospecting licences, notably PL770 and PL772. In these areas, recent audio-frequency magnetotelluric (AMT) survey data is currently being interpreted to refine further priority copper targets.
The geophysical surveys are intended to guide deeper drill targeting efforts scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. These will be conducted in conjunction with results from several ongoing survey initiatives, including airborne electromagnetic surveys in PL773 and PL2743, AMT surveys in PL2744 and PL2745 and soil geochemical programmes in PL2747.
“While the Kalahari Copper Belt is a relatively underexplored region it has already delivered multiple Tier 1 copper deposits. The unique opportunity presented by this highly prospective terrain has been recognised by the likes of BHP, MMG, Sandfire and South32, who are actively mining and/or exploring in this area,” Belararox MD Arvind Misra said.
Multiple KCP tenures have been interpreted to lie along strike from established copper/silver deposits, he said. This positioning highlights the strong prospectivity of these tenures and points to considerable potential for new mineral discoveries within the project area.
Belararox has retained Dr Quinton Hills as technical adviser to the KCP. Hills has a proven record of copper deposit discoveries in the region, including projects that have since progressed to mine development within the Kalahari Copper Belt in Botswana.
“Belararox’s exploration tenure is along strike of known copper/silver mineralisation and covers significant sections of where the highly prospective Ngwako Pan Fm/D’Kar Fm (NPF-DKF) sedimentary contact is interpreted to be preserved at shallow depths.”
“This NPF-DKF sedimentary contact either hosts or is proximal to all the discovered copper mineralisation within this terrane and is considered to be the key to exploration success. The exploration team are working very hard to deliver compelling targets backed by rigorous technical justification and is excited to be drill testing the most prospective targets generated so far within our KCP,” Hills said.
