Quebec-focused miner Champion Iron said on Wednesday that CFO Donald Tremblay would leave the company shortly before the release of its second-quarter results for the 2026 financial year.

The Canada- and Australia-listed miner said it had begun a global search for a successor. In the meantime, certain executives ould directly oversee the CFO responsibilities.

“As an integral member of our executive team since 2022, Donald participated in the achievement of several milestones for our company, including the completion of the Phase 2 project, an inaugural $500-million senior unsecured notes offering, progression of the Kami project and the ongoing construction of the direct reduction pellet feed project, which remains on track for commissioning as previously disclosed,” CEO David Cataford said in a statement.

Cataford added that Tremblay strengthened the finance team and oversaw improvements to accounting processes, increasing efficiency and productivity.

Champion, through its subsidiary Quebec Iron Ore, owns and operates the Bloom Lake Mining Complex in Québec’s Labrador Trough.
