PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Kingsgate Consolidated is expected to start commissioning and ramp-up of gold production at its Chatree operation, in Thailand, in early 2023.

In its quarterly report for the three months to September, the company said that refurbishment activities at Chatree remained on budget, and refurbishment works would be completed before the end of the calendar year.

Over the next quarter, the company will focus on completing the work on the primary and secondary crusher, test running the crushing circuit, reinstalling the mill motors and mill liners, test running the mills, completing work on the elution area, and commissioning the second plant.

The company is also working with local communities seeking expressions of interest from residents interested in working at the mine as operations continue to ramp up, with the target of employing 90% of the staff from the surrounding communities.

Kingsgate was forced to place its Chatree gold mine on care and maintenance at the start of 2017, after the Thai government in 2016 announced that all gold mining in the country would cease.
