JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Following the acquisition of a 33.45% controlling interest in Aim-listed GoldStone by exploration and development company Stratex, GoldStone’s newly constituted board has decided that the company’s exploration efforts going forward would be primarily directed at its Homase/Akrokerri project, in Ghana.

The Homase/Akrokerri project had a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of 10.6-million tonnes at an average grade of 1.77 g/t for 602 000 oz that could potentially be increased through further exploration.

Meanwhile, GoldStone’s board had also decided that the company’s joint venture (JV) with Asaasemu Mining, in respect of the Manso Amenfi project, in Ghana, was to be reviewed by geologists and that JVs had to be considered for the company’s other projects.

Meanwhile, Stratex on Friday announced that GoldStone independent director Emma Priestly had been appointed as a nonexectutive director of Stratex.

Consequently, she had resigned from her position at GoldStone; however, Stratex nonexecutive chairperson Ian Hall said her input into Stratex’s management of its strategic investment in GoldStone would be maintained through her new position.
