Grinding Techniques showcases advanced abrasive solutions at Electra Mining
Grinding Techniques Commercial Manager Dewald Bodenstein speaks to Mining Weekly at Electra Mining Africa.
Local manufacturer Grinding Techniques has been supplying premium abrasives since 1981, using only the finest raw materials, to offer the ultimate in stock removal and finishing solutions balanced with the best possible product life.
This year at Electra Mining Africa, the company will have a purpose-built booth onsite for conducting physical demonstrations, giving some insight into their products’ quality, durability and longevity.
Apart from displaying locally manufactured conventional and specialised cutting and grinding media, Grinding Techniques will also be featuring its versatile range of non-woven abrasives, including the sought-after Tyrolit polishing kit.
Boasting one of the most popular polishing solutions to a mirror finish, the company will demonstrate this three-step programme in conjunction with other surface conditioning products within the range.
Coated abrasives, including belts, discs, flap wheels, and buffing ball mop wheels with their respective polishing pastes, will also be available in various grits and sizes, and showcased alongside tungsten carbide burrs, and mounted points for precise stock removal on point.
For hand programme solutions, Grinding Techniques will have a selection of Superflex Premium and Professional abrasives on display. These are specifically manufactured for demanding jobs within any sector, including application solutions for exotic and heat-sensitive metals.
“One of a kind” products - including Tyrolit’s Premium 2-in-1 Rondeller and the dual-purpose Superflex Cut & Grind disc - will also feature in live demonstrations.
The Tyrolit Rondeller meets every requirement for vibration-free and ergonomic grinding applications, while the Cut & Grind disc is designed to operate safely as both an efficient cutting disc as well as a light grinding disc, the company says, adding that it is particularly useful for deburring, back grinding of welds and the cutting and grinding of weld roots in preparation for further welding.
“This product is ideal for maintenance on pipelines,” the company states.
For grinding applications within the precision grinding industry, Grinding Techniques will also have wheels on display manufactured with specialised vitrified and resin bonding systems, tailored to gear grinding, spring grinding and cam-and-crankshaft grinding.
The company’s extensive range of abrasives allows it to supply almost any need, with the ability to offer custom solutions, including a full abrasive basket offering.
Local manufacturing allows for competitive lead times with continued onsite technical support and product training, the company adds.
