Ironveld appoints deputy CFO, acting CFO
Aim-listed Ironveld has announced the appointment of Malebo Ratlhagane as deputy group CFO.
Additionally, Ironveld finance head for the UK and company secretary Brian James has been appointed acting group CFO. He has worked with Ironveld since 2012 and has extensive experience in public company reporting.
His role will be in a non-board capacity to provide support and mentorship over the transitional period of about one year, following which it is expected that Ratlhagane, who has been appointed to the Ironvoled board, will become group CFO.
"Following the recent rapid growth in the company’s operations, the board has decided to establish a more visible financial reporting structure for shareholders going forward, hence the appointment[s],” Ironveld chairperson Giles Clarke said.
Ratlhagane has acted as the finance head for all of Ironveld’s South African entities since last year and has been with the company since 2014. She is a certified professional accountant and a member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants.
James is also a chartered certified accountant who has served in senior financial roles for several publicly listed companies over the last 12 years, including Amerisur Resources, where he was employed from 2011 to its sale in January 2020.
Ironveld said it was the board’s intention to also promote other members of the South African executive team to ensure it more fully represented the day-to-day operations of the company and the senior employees.
Ironveld’s mining division mines vanadiferous/titaniferous/magnetite in South Africa for sale to industrial users, while its smelting division processes magnetite ore into high-purity iron, vanadium slag and titanium slag.
