Geology consulting mining engineering firm MINROM Consulting is positioning itself as a key partner for mining entrepreneurs seeking to unlock greater value from mineral resource assets across Africa, as demand grows for technically robust and economically optimised projects.

Mining Weekly spoke to MINROM Consulting CEO Oscar van Antwerpen ahead of the Investing in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town. During the interview he outlined the company’s focus on uncovering hidden project value through scientific investigation and advanced modelling.

Headquartered in South Africa, MINROM operates from Cape Town with remote offices in Namibia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and the Arabian Shield, giving the firm a strong footprint across key African mining jurisdictions. The company specialises in mineral exploration, three-dimensional geological and geometallurgical modelling, and mining engineering, supporting clients from early-stage discovery through to optimised mine planning.

MINROM’s core purpose is to harness the untapped potential of mineral assets by identifying opportunities to increase net present value through improved geological understanding, optimal pit design and capital-efficient engineering solutions. By applying innovative exploration techniques and advanced modelling technologies, the firm aims to support sustainable extraction strategies that enhance shareholder value.

MINROM has experience across a range of commodities and deposit types, including base metals, industrial minerals, strategic and critical minerals, battery minerals, precious metals and gemstones. This breadth of expertise has contributed to numerous successful projects globally, reinforcing the firm’s role in helping mining developers and investors make informed, value-driven decisions in increasingly complex mineral markets.
