Isanti Glass promotes local production, procurement through Proudly South African membership
To reinforce its dedication to encouraging local procurement by South African manufacturers and boosting domestic production to stimulate job creation, food and beverage glass packaging manufacturer Isanti Glass has officially become a member of Proudly South African, the country’s national buy local campaign.
The Gauteng-based company, which operates a 56 596 m2 facility equipped with three furnaces, employs 450 employees directly and more than 200 third-party contractors.
“As the first majority black-owned glass container manufacturer in the country, Isanti Glass has been instrumental in advancing black industrialisation and broadening economic participation,” says the company.
The combined capacity of its three furnaces enables continuous glass production, allowing Isanti Glass to fulfil large- volume orders while maintaining high standards of quality. The company currently produces glass in amber, flint and emerald, with a high percentage of recycled content. Thereby, Isanti Glass promotes environment-conscious manufacturing while producing products that are 100% recyclable.
“This approach not only minimises waste but also helps to conserve natural resources, proving that business success and environmental stewardship are mutually achievable,” says the company.
Isanti Glass invests in research and development to enhance the efficiency of its glass manufacturing processes and explore innovative techniques.
“We aim to stay at the forefront of the glass industry by adopting cutting-edge technologies, in their quality assurance processes, optimising energy efficiency, and refining our focus on improving the company’s key performance indicators,” adds the company.
Over the past four years, Isanti Glass has remained sustainable through innovation and determination despite the glass industry currently facing a downward trend. The company has attained exceptional achievements, such as a PMR Africa Diamond Arrow award in 2023, and has entered strategic partnerships that have solidified its market position and helped to cultivate a more inclusive and sustainable economy, adds Isanti Glass.
“The company is a testament to the power of local entrepreneurship and the effectiveness of strategic partnerships in stimulating economic growth while also protecting the environment.”
Being a Proudly South African member embodies Isanti Glass's dedication to localisation and sustainability; setting a high standard for responsible business conduct that can inspire other South African companies to follow suit.
“Our journey is an example of the heights attainable when a company focuses on localisation and sustainability. As Isanti Glass progresses and enriches the South African economy, its 'Proudly South African' certification stands as a proud acknowledgment of its accomplishments and its contribution to building a stronger, more inclusive nation,” concludes the company.
