Kal Tire promoting ESG, sustainability through tyre recycling
Kal Tire senior VP Dan Allan speaks to Creamer Media at this year's Electra Mining.
Mining tyre service provider Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group continues to innovate how it works, its tools and its technology to meet evolving needs and deliver positive change when working through the lens of how to solve customers’ challenges.
These challenges, says senior VP Dan Allan, include the likes of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG), safety and productivity.
“We provide new innovative and sustainable tools and solutions to customers, and we assist them with achieving their ESG goals,” he adds, noting that Kal Tire is involved in every stage of the mining tyre supply and management process.
The company’s solutions, such as Kal Tire’s “Ultra Repair”, extends tyre life, says Allan, who adds that the company’s productivity expertise allows it to recommend the right tyre, depending on the application, as they are an independent tyre dealer.
However, through all their product and service offerings, Kal Tire continues to focus on recycling, which it addresses through the thermal conversion of off-the-road tyres at its tyre recycling facility in Chile.
The benefit, says Allan, is that it promotes the circular economy through making use of the “highest and best use” of recycled rubber products.
Sustainability solutions and proven carbon emissions reporting also remain on offer through Kal Tire’s Maple Programme and carbon calculator, which now includes conventional repairs on tyre’s 49” and above, as well as the Ultra Repair, re-treading and the Ultra Tread.
Benefits include a demonstrable reduced carbon footprint.
