Local company launches new fire-detection range
EQUIPPED FACTORY Zyteq’s detection products are manufactured in the company’s own ISO9001-certified factory, in Cape Town
Fire-detection manufacturer Zyteq Fire launched a locally designed and manufactured range of conventional fire-detection products at security and fire trade exhibition Securex in Johannesburg in May.
“The fire detectors are designed to provide early detection and notification of fires. They are used in conjunction with control panels, which activate sounders and beacons to warn occupants of the impending threat. The system can also send messages to alert fire authorities and responsible persons,” explains Zyteq Fire MD Mark Mundell.
He adds that conventional fire detection is ideally suited to small installations where cost is an issue, but also for applications, such as a gas extinguishing systems for data centres, where reliability is paramount.
Zyteq detectors are driven by a powerful microprocessor, which enables them to have a number of additional features not usually found in conventional fire detectors. These include automatic drift compensation – with this feature, the detector is more reliable and self-adjusts for a build-up of dirt in the detector over time. The detectors also boast ‘rate of rise’ heat detection; the detector will be triggered by a rapid rise in temperature so it can detect early fires when it is used in very cold environments. A dual light-emitting diode flashes green to show that the detector is working optimally and red to indicate that the detector requires service. An integrated detector, sounder and beacon also greatly reduces the installation cost.
Zyteq products are certified in Europe to the EN54 standard, and the company partners with some of the world’s leading brands to offer complete conventional extinguishing solutions for every application, with the support that local clients expect.
“All detection products are manufactured in our own state-of-the-art, ISO9001-certified factory in Cape Town. The factory is equipped with all the necessary test equipment to ensure our products are produced to the highest international standards,” mentions Mundell.
The product range is being rolled out locally.
Upcoming Range
Zyteq Fire will also release its addressable range later in the year, which includes systems for small and large installations. The addressable range is a range equipped with all the features of the conventional range, but with the added intelligence of being able to map the exact location of the detector in the building.
This makes it easier for the responsible authorities to quickly locate the fire. The addressable range was also showcased at Securex and attracted much interest, with quite a few sites planned for installation this year.
As a local designer and manufacturer, Zyteq would like to focus on offering best service and support without compromising on quality and cost competitiveness. “We plan to include a number of game-changing features that will be incorporated into the addressable range, in line with our vision to make fire detection more affordable and accessible to a wider market,” concludes Mundell.
