Project Owner/s
Multinational mining group Anglo American.

Project Description
Los Bronces has a significant underground copper endowment, with underground development permitted as part of the wider LBIP permit granted in 2023.

The project would partly replace lower-grade openpit tonnes with higher-grade underground tonnes. It will use the same plant and tailings deposit capacity as that of the current operation, without requiring any additional fresh water.

Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return
Not stated.

Capital Expenditure
Capital expenditure is subject to ongoing studies.

Planned Start/End Date
First production is expected in the early 2030s.

Latest Developments
Studies are under way to develop a modern operation with minimal surface impact while maximising value delivery from the project. Studies include an evaluation of the expansion option in light of the Los Bronces/Andina joint mine plan from 2030, with the timing of this project being under review.
