East Rand-based company Metal Tank Industries – in close proximity to OR Tambo International Airport – can now present its clients with not only the vessel, but also all other components that make up a complete process plant.

With 20 years knowledge and experience, Metal Tank Industries offers turnkey, end-to-end solutions, and can design, build and install entire production lines for a broad spectrum of industries.

Metal Tank Industries founder and MD Rob MacGregor says the company’s ability to keep excess stock of premanufactured vessels on hand is what sets it apart. This has a positive effect on turnaround times for the company, as it can readily supply these items in excess from its stock.

Previously, small to medium-sized enterprises sourced plant components from a large number of different suppliers in different countries. This led to delays during the commissioning phase of a plant. Metal Tank Industries saw this as a growth opportunity and decided to offer turnkey solutions.

Full production lines are prefabricated in kit format on the company’s 29 000 m² factory floor. This has made a significant impact in terms of costing controls for both parties. Metal Tank Industries calls this a knockdown format. Everything built by the company is designed to be disassembled into transportable parts, which has worked to its clients’ advantage. The clients now have quicker turnaround times, require less time on site and have more control over costing, as the bulk of the work is done at Metal Tank Industries’ production facility and not on site.

As Metal Tank Industries is expanding, it is currently adding a new production facility to its existing premises to allow for greater demand in the supply of turnkey process plants.
Metal Tank Industries has significant experience in designing and implementing solutions. Its client base is a cross section of manufacturers from small to medium-sized companies in Africa to big players such as multinational beverage company AB inBev and chemicals company Omnia.
