NUM, Exxaro sign three-year wage deal for Matla Colliery employees

Trade union the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has signed a three-year wage agreement with Exxaro Coal Mpumalanga (Matla Colliery), with the basic salaries of employees to increase by 6.5% with effect from July 1, this year.

The basic salaries of employees will increase by 7% with effect from July 1, 2025, and by 7% with effect from July 1, 2026.

The parties have also agreed to investigate the wage gap within the different salary bands of the bargaining unit employees. The first step will be to draft the terms of reference, which will be used as a guide for the investigation.
