Construction at Perseus Mining’s Nyanzaga gold project, in Tanzania, is progressing steadily, with key milestones achieved across operational, mining, and community programmes, the company reported in its first 2026 project update on February 4. The project remains on track to produce its first gold in the first quarter of 2027.

As of mid-January, the operation has recorded nearly four-million workhours with 358 days without a lost-time injury. The first concrete lift on the ball and sag mill has been completed, while installation of the carbon-in-leach tanks continues as planned. Four tanks have reached top strake jacking, and three tanks are progressing with floor plate installation.

Construction of the permanent camp is also advancing, with completion scheduled for mid-2026, providing essential facilities for the workforce. Initial mining preparation has also commenced on the ramp to the top of the Tusker Hill deposit, signalling the start of early extraction activities.

Meanwhile, community and resettlement programmes have moved into their final stages. The resettlement housing programme is completing the last homes, and infrastructure work has begun at schools, a local clinic, and a church. These initiatives are part of the project’s efforts to support local communities alongside mining operations.
