Oriole confirms high-grade mineralisation at Mbe from partner’s soil sampling

Sub-Saharan African miner BCM International Group has uncovered gold mineralisation grading 256 g/t from outcrop sampling and 25.1 g/t gold from pit sampling over a 3-km-long target on the Mbe gold project, in Cameroon.

The target, called MB-01, returned 155 out of 639 samples grading more or equal to 1 g/t gold, of which 13 have graded above 10 g/t.

Of these higher grading samples, the best results include 256 g/t, 133 g/t, 75 g/t, 33 g/t and 22 g/t from outcrop sampling, and 25 g/t, 23 g/t, 9.9 g/t and 8.7 g/t from pit sampling.

The company is earning up to a 50% interest in return for $1-million in signature payments and $4-million in exploration funding, as well as future resource-linked success-based payments.

The Mbe project is 90%-owned by Aim-listed Oriole Resources, which has already received $550 000 of the signature payments amount from BCM. The remaining amount is due by the end of the month.

BCM has completed structural mapping of the pits, with results being compiled to help identify discrete data populations, and assist in determining the controls on gold distribution.

The company has also started with infill soil sampling at the MB-01 target, at a sample spacing of 100 m by 25 m, to better constrain the anomalism prior to a planned trenching programme in the second quarter.

Infill soil sampling is also planned over the wider 12.5-km-long zone of soil anomalism at Mbe, which was identified during a semi-regional programme, to provide greater data resolution. This will start later in the first quarter.

Oriole CEO Tim Livesey says the identified targets are indicative of a corridor of gold mineralisation that runs across all five of Oriole’s Eastern Central Licence Package (CLP) licences. “As a potential new gold district, early indications from Mbe suggest a huge opportunity in developing this prospective area of Cameroon.

He adds that Oriole will keep the market updated on plans for the remaining Eastern CLP licences, which remain under Oriole’s control and management.

The Eastern CLP licences comprise the Tenekou, Niambaram, Pokor, Ndom and Mbe projects.
